We will tell you within the hour whether we can take the mandate and, if we cannot, we will name a firm we would call in your position. Referral without a fee is part of how a small desk stays honest about its own limits.

Yes. The first document in any mandate is a position slip that states what we believe about the system, what we assume and what evidence would change our mind. No build work begins until that slip is in a numbered bay and the client has a copy of it.
